Undergraduate Biomedical Sciences Student
⚲ Dept. of Medicine, RWTH Aachen University, Germany

I am a Biomedical Sciences graduate, to perform a research internship, funded by Erasmus+ after-placement grants, starting September 2026.
From December 2025 to April 2026, I was an intern at “Theagenio” Anticancer Hospital of Thessaloniki, rotating the hospital’s Hematology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Biopathology, Cytology, and Blood Donation Departments.
Under the guidance of Dr. Tsamesidis Ioannis, I completed my undergraduate thesis on an intersection of hematology and botany, titled “Effects of Achillea millefolium on the physiology of red blood cells and platelets”. My research enabled me to gain significant experience in handling and analyzing blood samples, and the subsequent results.
I furthered my research and wet lab skills by expanding the project to include extract-bacteria interactions, staying as an undergraduate research assistant under Dr. Tsamesidis’ supervision.
My skills cover wet and dry lab, as a result of my research experience and my traineeship. My achievements in education, my work experience, along with my above professional working proficiency in three languages and my attendances at various workshops and conferences portray a person adaptive in diverse environments, with drive to learn and excel independently or in an intercultural team. I am always open to learning from my more experienced colleagues, as well as my own errors. I am a deeply curious person, and strive to soon expand my scope of knowledge through a Master’s degree.
Selected Experience
🔬 Research Experience
My research experience comes from the experiments I run and the protocols I build as part of my undergraduate thesis, as well as my volunteering as Research Assistant.
I have experience in wet lab techniques in the field of hematology; namely, preparation of blood samples, performing hemocompatibility assays and osmotic fragility tests, preparation and observation of microscope slides, and testing blood coagulation time. My skills also cover aseptic techniques and microbiology. I am comfortable with performing cell cultures and various viability/antimicrobial assays, such as growth-based bacterial viability assay and well and disk diffusions. I am a person motivated by research and seeking answers to my questions, and I feel familiar in a laboratory or research environment, either performing experiments or mentoring other undergraduate and graduate students on protocols and troubleshooting.
